Women's work BEGAN as work adult females could do in order to be productive, contributing members of society WHILE pregnant, breastfeeding and tending to children.
This happened at a time when cash money was not really a thing and BOTH parents spent most of their time working to LITERALLY put FOOD on the table. Even the labor of the children was needed during spring planting and summer harvesting to try to stave off starvation, which is why the traditional school year has spring break and summer off.
And then money became the norm and we began shifting heavier household tasks traditionally done by men to the women via new household technology. For example, beating rugs was replaced with vacuum cleaners. This freed men up to work for money because the entire family was better off that way.
And then we invented birth control AND some women decided that marrying well was a winning lottery ticket where if you can afford a maid, takeout or delivery food and a nanny you can do absolutely NOTHING, not EVEN adequately service your husband and uphold monogamy as a value so as to not spread disease.
Instead of seeing it as an opportunity from which to study the problem space and try to further equality for women. They choose to be giant parasites while pretending to be role models for what women should aspire to be as their highest possible achievement in this world.
