The Boss

The title comes from the phrase "the boss of my boss's boss."

I mentioned this once on Metafilter and they promptly deleted it, feeling like I said something inappropriate or insulting though I didn't use her name. To me it's a hilarious story.

In high school, I was one of the top three students and I was barely acquainted with a chick who had a baby out of wedlock. I think I ran into her once in college.

Fast forward about 25 years or so and I'm a divorced single mom with an entry level job and the chick who had the baby in high school is the boss of my boss's boss.

She's also the ONLY woman at that Fortune 200 company who didn't feel shocked or threatened by me getting my kids to take over the cooking and cleaning. Everyone else was just losing their shit over that.

She had a baby and then went to college and had a serious career and was very grounded in ways most people aren't.

And if you think I'm insulting her, your bass backwards attitudes are showing because I'm absolutely not. Aflac is lucky to have her.

For the record, I ended a friendship with someone while in high school in part because they talked trash about her having a baby.

I wasn't a virgin and the gal trashing her wasn't a virgin. I didn't want to hear this bullshit from someone trying to insist I be supportive of her dysfunctional and unhealthy sexual relationship in the name of women's lib or something while saying ugly things about another gal who got pregnant.

Good people take responsibility for the consequences of their actions and make no excuses. She did that.

Better than most people I have met who didn't get pregnant out of wedlock.
